1839 Courthouse Museum Starts American Girls Club

American Girls Club. The 1839 Courthouse Museum is beginning an American Girls Club that will meet monthly in Berrien Springs. The first meeting of the Club will be Thursday, May 30 at 6 p.m. at the 1839 Courthouse Museum. Bring a friend or family along. Club members will participate in a variety of activities such as book discussions, crafts from the time periods of the American Girls, games, trading collectable cards, and exploring historical time periods. Club membership is free. Pre-registration is requested, but not required. Call (269) 471-1202 to register.

Molly and Samantha Doll Give-Aways. The 1839 Courthouse Museum also announces drawings for both the 1940s Molly doll and the 1900's Samantha doll to commemorate their new Travel Adventure books. Hop in the backseat with Molly for a trip down Route 66, or join Samantha on a glorious ocean voyage to England. Each book includes eight pullout souvenirs for girls to keep. The drawing is exclusively for children under 18 years of age. Each child may enter their name once in this drawing for either doll, or both dolls. Drawings will be held 7 p.m. Thursday June 13 for Molly and 7 p.m. Thursday July 25th for Samantha at the 1839 Courthouse Museum. There will be activities surrounding Molly and Samantha beginning at 4 p.m. on the days of the drawings. No purchase is necessary. Stop by the museum to sign up!

The 1839 Courthouse Museum Complex is operated by the Berrien County Historical Association and is located at 313 N. Cass Street (old US 31), Berrien Springs, Michigan. It is the site of the historic county seat and comprises the 1839 Courthouse, 1870s Sheriff's Residence, 1830 Murdock Log House, Bennett Forge, and 1870 Jail Plaza. The Museum's normal operating hours are Tuesday-Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. (June 15-September 15)
