Box 261 Berrien Springs, MI 49103 Tele: (269) 471-1202 BCHA sends care packages BERRIEN SPRINGS, MICHIGAN: The Berrien County Historical Association's Chapter of the American Girls Club is sponsoring two servicemen serving in Iraq. Care Packages will be sent to : Marine First Lieutenant Casey Kuhlman. Kuhlman is currectly a resident of Orlando, Florida but his father lives in Berrien County. Army Captain Kenneth Stice resides in Arizona, but was born and raised in Berrien County. His father, Dan Stice, lives in Berrien County and is on the Board of the BCHA. BCHA's Chapter of the American Girls Club meets on the last Thursday of each month from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the 1839 Courthouse Museum in Berrien Springs. New members between the ages of seven and 12 are welcome. To become a member please contact Penny Weber at (269) 471-1202. The club focuses on the popular dolls and books relating to a series of fictional characters from American history. Girls in the series include Addy, an African-American girl living during the Civil War; Felicity, a colonial American girl living in 1774; Josefina, a Spanish-American girl from 1824; Kirsten, a Scandinavian immigrant from 1854; Kit, who is growing up in 1934 during the Great Depression; Molly, who lives during World War II; and Samantha, an Edwardian-era girl from 1904. The newest character to American Girl is Kaya, a Native American girl from the Nez Perce tribe. Books about these girls offer fascinating adventure tales and informative history lessons.
