The 1839 Courthouse Museum presents its twelfth annual Christmas Celebration and Open House from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on December 14, 2003. Admission to the museum is free. Come to see the courthouse and sheriff's house decorated for the Christmas holiday season. This year's activities include Jan Burda's folk picking music in the log house. Bring an instrument join the fun, or just come to enjoy. Our guest blacksmith, Al Hoadley, will give demonstrations throughout the afternoon. Visit the blacksmith to learn about his trade and to exchange stories. As we often do, we will have the fire going in the hearth of the log house. Relax in front of the warm fire and enjoy a sampling of hot wassail and cookies. Our museum shop offers a variety of gift items including: Old World ornaments; pickle ornaments; children's toys, games and gifts; American Girls items; Greetings from Berrien Springs book; and other historical books about the area. While at the courthouse, be sure to see the Trees for Christmas on display! These sponsored trees will be donated to Christmas Care program in Berrien Springs for distribution. To contribute toward a tree or for more information call the 1839 Courthouse Museum at (269) 471-1202. For more information call (269) 471-1202.
