The History Center at Courthouse Square, in Berrien Springs, Michigan, includes the oldest surviving county government complex in the Midwest as Berrien County’s first county seat. A free walking tour provides information about the site and buildings to enhance the visitor experience. Enjoy the beautiful park setting as you step back into the 1830s and tour:
The 1839 Greek Revival style Berrien County Courthouse houses exhibits and the original courtroom.

The Murdock Log House was constructed in 1830 about one mile from Courthouse Square. It was moved to the site in 1974 and is a fine example of typical pioneer dwellings of that time.

The 1870 Sheriff’s Residence includes the sheriff’s office and a jailhouse plaza re-created in the original jail’s footprint. The Sheriff’s Residence includes the Museum Store and staff offices. Visitors begin their tour of the site at the Sheriff’s Residence where they may pick up a free Walking Tour brochure
